Today’s message is simple; How we as Christians can become “lights of the world”, meaning I’m going to share some simple ways that can help us all become shining examples of God’s love, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, and grace for all to see, in order to bring glory and honor to His name. This is precisely what Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14-16 when he was preaching to a crowd on a mountainside by the Jordan River one day, that; “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. As I was reading my bible this morning I was drawn to Galatians. For those who don’t know, Galatians is a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the churches of Galatia. You see, the people of Galatia, who were Gentiles, were in a state-of-confusion because there were some people going about spreading the message of the Old Testament, which is the message of law and that in order to receive God’s favor one must abide by the Jewish laws, rather than preaching the message of grace. How do we know this? Reports have recently been confirmed that a school recently converted to a United Nations refuge for families displaced from their homes, was struck by an Israeli missile, after weeks of fighting in and around the Gaza Strip continues. It should be noted that some media outlets like CNN are reporting rumors the strike could have been the result of a Hamas rocket and not one fired from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). However, Director of Operations in Gaza for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Mr. Robert Turner confirmed the bombing of the school, which is located 1.5 miles from the Gaza/Israeli border in the Raqqu Provenance of Syria, was the result of an IDF missile.
